In this workshop, students will experience the complete journey of designing and making a custom pencil case or roll-top bag from concept to finished product. Each participant will begin by sketching and drafting their own pattern, learning how to translate a flat design into a three-dimensional object. They'll then select fabric that reflects their personal style and carefully trace and cut their pattern pieces with precision. The creative customization phase allows students to make their bag truly unique through hand embroidery, fabric markers, or a combination of both techniques. While the instructor handles the final technical sewing—adding zippers and hardware—students will gain insight into garment construction and how individual components come together. Every participant will leave with a functional, one-of-a-kind bag they designed and decorated themselves, along with foundational skills in pattern-making and textile design they can apply to future creative projects. This hands-on workshop bridges technical precision with creative expression, showing students how thoughtful design and craftsmanship can result in objects they'll actually want to use every day.
