Event Details

NOTE: Date updated from 2/17 to 2/24! We're back to LINK's usual schedule of 10am-1:30pm (different from the last few workshops).

Before the Walt Disney Concert Hall was built, it started as a 2D sketch that Frank Gehry drew on a napkin. How did that napkin sketch become one of the most iconic buildings in 20th century American architecture?

In this workshop, we’ll learn principles of architectural design from architects themselves, hosted at international architecture firm MG2. After an introduction and studio tour by MG2 associate Joy Dayaw, we’ll dive into the design translation between 2D drawings and 3D forms.

Working in groups (hint – great architects practice collaboration!), we’ll get to create technical drawings using core features of architecture design: plans, elevations, and sections. We’ll also get first-hand experience with bringing architectural concepts to life by building 3D models based off the interpretations of our technical drawings. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to explain your design process by presenting your drawings and models.

Please RSVP by Thursday, February 15 at 8pm to secure your seat!
