Join expressive artist Soo Hong in a virtual workshop that will guide you through the process of painting on a skateboard deck.
We’ll learn about her background as an artist, along with street art, graphic styles, and the evolving cultural role of skateboarding (like in the Olympics!).
With full-group work times and small-group breakout rooms, you’ll learn how to work expressively within the constraints of a limited acrylic palette, and walk away with your very own, custom-painted skateboard deck.
NOTE: Limited spots available. Supplies will be shipped only to students who sign up for available spots, to the mailing address provided on their LINK application. The deadline to register is September 21st. Don’t miss out!
Soo Hong’s work explores the unrooted human condition, reflecting her nomadic life experience and as a person of color and immigrant who aspires to feel belonged. She is not deeply rooted in a particular culture or a place. The act of painting is analogous to nesting in the place she lives and creating an intimate space. Through her works, she wants to convey a sense of belonging and inclusion regardless of the differences in background.
