The workshop in November involved creating drawings that were the models of 2-dimensional sculptures with wire. The wire sculptures were then dipped in plaster of paris instantly making them 3- dimensional. After the structures dried, students painted them. There were so many possible directions to take with this project. Both volunteers & students were excited to work with the plaster of paris layer as it dripped & created unusual results. Usually sculptures were dipped multiple times to take advantage of this effect. Some memorable projects from the day included a small man falling from the sky with a parachute & then there was an octopus... Both of those projects were included in the end of year gallery show. They were hung from the ceiling & lit dramatically to create huge, fascinating shadows.
