Event Details

How might we spread awareness about issues affecting our community? Join Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, and designer Verda Alexander of Studio O + A for a hands on-workshop for activists, artists, and designers.

Students will work in teams to design a pop-up art installation that brings awareness to an issue in their community. Students will leave the workshop with a blueprint for their own installations, as well as techniques for collaboration.

Wait, what is an installation? Good question! An installation is a 3D work of art that a person can walk through- something that transforms a place! Think street art or a pop-up that is open to the public.

Note: The first 20 students to RSVP (by April 15th at the latest) will receive a complimentary dot grid notebook, fine tip drawing pen, chisel tip/fine point art marker, and paper Happy Journal!
